EBM Insurance & Risk has laid the foundation for future growth with a number of key appointments announced recently.

EBM has brought into the business two experienced insurance professionals in Lawrence Kenyon (previously Head of Agency Distribution at Elders Insurance) and Luke Westell, who spent more than a decade with QBE Insurance – adding additional breadth and depth to its internal leadership promotions.

The appointment of Lawrence Kenyon to the position of Regional Director (based in Perth) with responsibility for Bunbury and Geraldton confirms EBM’s strong commitment to Western Australia’s rural and regional communities, and primary producers in the South and Mid-West in particular.

“Western Australia’s agricultural sector is diverse and dynamic – and EBM is committed to not just maintaining a local presence, but building on it to serve our primary producers, and the communities in which they live,” said Peter McLachlan, Managing Director EBM Insurance & Risk.

“Lawrence Kenyon was previously Head of Agency Distribution at Elders Insurance and the appointment of a new Regional Director with a strong body of experience across Western Australia builds on the local knowledge and relationships the team has developed over many, many years in the South-West and Mid-West communities in particular,” Mr McLachlan added.

“Luke Westell is joining EBM’s Injury Management team and brings 20 years of insurance expertise and technical knowledge, specialising in Workers’ Compensation claims dispute advocacy. The addition of Mr Westell positions EBM well to optimise our client experience.”

Chelsey Harris and Thom Anderson-Nicholls have been promoted to the position of Regional Director, joining the existing team Ben Bowen (Regional Director – Melbourne, Sydney & Gold Coast, Craig Goodwin (Regional Director – Perth), and Ken Williams (National Manager – Construction & Marine).

These two internal promotions will have responsibility for important regional markets. Both Ms Harris and Mr Anderson-Nicholls will support key clients in Perth and Kalgoorlie while Mr Anderson-Nicholls adds clients in Karratha to his portfolio too.  They complete the team of five EBM Regional Directors, with responsibilities around the country.

With over 30 years at EBM, Ashton George, will now take up the role of Executive Client Director allowing him to focus on client relationships and business development opportunities across the Broking business nationally.

“EBM has been operating for almost 50 years and that kind of longevity can only come from a total commitment to our clients,” said Mr McLachlan.  “We feel these new appointments will drive even better service and an even better client experience. We are committed to innovation and renewal across our business and across our teams, and these appointments are a great way to start 2024, and another year of positive growth.”
