New COVID-19 notification requirements
On 28 July 2020, the Victorian Government introduced the Occupational Health and Safety (COVID-19 Incident Notification) Regulations 2020. The temporary regulations (which apply for 12 months) require employers and the self-employed to notify WorkSafe Victoria of confirmed cases of COVID-19.

COVID-19 Response bill passes
On 13 August 2020, the Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Amendment (COVID-19 Response) Bill 2020 passed the Western Australian Parliament. Once the Bill is proclaimed, it will enable a presumption of work-related injury for health care workers who contract COVID-19 and claim workers' compensation. The Bill will be proclaimed as soon as possible following the drafting of supporting regulations.

SafeWork NSW
COVID safety crackdown
On 24 July 2020, SafeWork NSW announced new COVID-19 safety measures imposed on pubs had been extended to casinos, clubs and bars, as well as cafes and restaurants. Liquor & Gaming, SafeWork and Fair Trading inspectors are working with local council environmental inspectors, Food Authority inspectors, NSW Health and NSW Police to ensure compliance.
