The
first choice you need to make is whether you will engage an insurance
broker or go direct to the insurer. As an insurance broker, EBM has a
duty of care to represent your interests at all times, whereas when you
deal with the insurer direct they have no duty of care in regard to
representing your interests.
When we act as your broker, EBM will
examine a wide range of policies and products available from a vast
selection of insurance providers worldwide to determine which may be
right for your needs; if none are, we will formulate a suitable policy
and negotiate its placement with an insurer on your behalf. When you
deal direct with the insurer, they will select which of their products
most nearly meets your needs, which may leave you exposed to losses.
In circumstances where we act as an agent for the insurer we will inform you prior to undertaking the contract.
As your business grows or your life changes, the types and levels of
insurance policies that you need will change too. Having an ongoing
relationship with EBM means that you can keep us informed of any
changes that may affect your insurance and we can adjust your policies
accordingly, formulating new cover where necessary.
We recommend
against automatically renewing any policies that are due for expiry, as
a review can be as simple as asking yourself whether the circumstances
have changed.
Your EBM account manager is always available to
discuss your situation and review your existing policies to ensure that
you are comprehensively covered at all times.
