It is important that we are aware of claims and circumstances as soon as possible so that we can ensure you are meeting the insurers’ requirements, giving you the best chance of a favourable settlement. We know how important it is that your claims are attended to quickly and professionally, and we are committed to processing all EquineCover claims as efficiently as possible. If you need to make a claim contact us immediately and we will arrange for a claims form to be sent to you. Remember: In the event of humane destruction obtain a Veterinary Certificate.
In the event of sudden death please obtain a Post Mortem.
If your Horse or other Insured items are stolen report it immediately to the Police.
Home & Contents Claims
Take steps to prevent any further loss from occurring (e.g. secure the premises).
Contact your EBM account manager immediately and we will advise whether you are required to obtain quotes and we will also advise other steps you are required to take. Our claims team will process it as quickly as possible and we will contact you if any further documentation is required.
Liability Claims
When any event or occurrence which may result in a claim against you happens, report all details immediately to your EBM account manager. In addition, record the names and addresses of as many witnesses as possible. Do not admit liability or enter into discussions regarding the negligence of any party involved. If and when appropriate we will ask that you forward copies of all correspondence and provide you with a claim form to complete and return to us. Be sure to carefully record all details and circumstances whilst they are fresh in your mind.
TopMotor Vehicle Claims
Immediately following the occurrence of a motor vehicle accident, the driver must:
- Stop and exchange names and addresses with the other party involved and record the registration number of the other vehicle. You are obliged to provide your full name, address and registration details to the other driver.
- Record the names and addresses of as many witnesses as possible at the scene of the accident. No discussion whatsoever should be entered into as to the negligence of either party.
- Report the accident to the Police in accordance with legal requirements.
Contact your EBM account manager immediately and we will advise whether you are required to obtain a quote from a repairer of your choice or take your vehicle to a repairer recommended by the insurer. They will also advise any other steps you are required to take.
TopOther Property Claims
For all other property claims, contact your EBM account manager, noting all relevant details to the claim. If necessary you should also take steps to ensure that the property is secure, so that further losses will not be experienced.
TopProfessional Indemnity And Directors' & Officers' Liability Claims

Transit Claims
Following damage or suspected damage to insured goods, advise the Carrier’s or Shipper’s Representative immediately and take note of the delivery receipt. In the event of suspected damage, it is suggested that your concerns are recorded on the receipt for example: “Goods believed to be damaged. Accepted subject to survey in store”. A letter of claim should be lodged with the Carrier or Shipping Company’s Agent immediately, and you should advise your EBM account manager of the details of the loss or damage and an estimate of the costs involved, and we will arrange notification to the Insurer to arrange a assessor.
Your claim form should be completed and sent to our office together with the:-
i) bill of loading;
ii) delivery receipt;
iii) original freight note or carbon copy;
iv) copy of letter of claim sent to Carrier or Shipping Company’s Agent and reply;
v) invoices;
vi) any other relevant documentation.
Workers Compensation Claims
Workers compensation rules vary from state to state so it is essential that you engage an insurance team like EBM with the national resources to provide you with the advice you need to make your claims. It is vital that you have all the information relevant to the incident and subsequent medical treatment available, including copies of all invoices from doctors, specialists, physiotherapists and hospitals.

Report details of any damage or loss immediately it comes to your notice, to your EBM account manager.
Malicious damage, money or burglary losses should also be immediately notified to the Police.
